One Nation Says Yes To Medicinal Cannabis

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Medical cannabis refers to the use of cannabis and its constituent cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), as medical therapy to treat disease or alleviate symptoms.

Cannabis is one of the 50 “fundamental” herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. The ancient Egyptians used hemp (cannabis) in suppositories for relieving the pain of haemorrhoids.

In ancient India, doctors used it for treating a variety of illnesses and ailments, including insomnia, headaches, gastrointestinal disorders, and pain, including during childbirth. The Ancient Greeks and the medieval Islamic world also used it.

Cannabis has been used to reduce nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy and people with HIV/AIDS, and to treat pain and muscle spasticity. A review said CBD (a major constituent of medical cannabis), had shown potential to relieve convulsion, inflammation, cough, congestion and nausea and to inhibit cancer cell growth.

The medical use of cannabis is legal in certain countries, including Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain

One Nation believes a trial of cannabis is deemed to be a reasonable option for people who are suffering, after all, other treatments are in some cases not effective enough. A review has found no problems with tolerance, abuse or addiction to medicinal cannabis.

Australians are suffering pain and dying because of inept governments failing to allow law abiding citizens the right to medicine. Due to Australia’s draconian laws on the use of medical cannabis many are going overseas to access the medicine.

Australians found using it are facing criminal charges and prison sentences as is the case of a man found giving it to his 2 year old daughter who has a stage 4 brain tumour. He has been denied access to his daughter and faces losing his job.

Australian politicians should not stand in the way of Australians fighting to save their loved ones.

One Nation upholds the right of Australians to access medical cannabis, that may give them quality of life and life itself.
