Learn about Pauline Hanson's One Nation candidates
After gaining a strong result of 19.2% as the One Nation candidate for Hinkler at the 2016 Federal election, Damian will continue his fight for his region to have strong representation, as the candidate for Hervey Bay in the upcoming state election.
Like Pauline Hanson, Damian too is fed up with the way every day Australians are being treated by their recent governments. “Both major parties are full of ‘career politicians’ who are happy to promise anything to garner votes then not deliver. We deserve better!” Damian states.
Damian brings experience from a wide employment field into politics that gives him a clear understanding of how average Aussies struggle every day to make ends meet. Starting out as an apprentice carpenter and having run several successful small to medium businesses, Damian can empathise with both workers and employers.
He now works as a Plant Operator in QLD’s mines, having rebuilt his career after mass job losses in the sector during the last Labor government. “that’s when I decided I need to do something about the successive BAD governments, that ignited my passion for politics – so I can make a real difference to every Aussie’s life.”
Damian’s key interests in local issues are:
working to ensure the improvement in mental health facilities, care and treatment.
addressing and working toward 'new' job creation to ensure that we don't remain one of highest consistent unemployment regions in Queensland
boosting the Recreational Fishing industry and working with the commercial fishing industry to ensure a balanced sustainable profitable industry
continuing to push for the Burrum Bridge (Doongy Bulla Bulla- the chosen traditional name) – the missing link to bring Bundaberg & Hervey Bay closer together.
Damian believes the most urgent issue for voters in the seat is jobs, with a focus on boosting small business he is confident he can create real jobs for the community.
